It's on a hill facing east, at 400 meters above the sea, that, in 1996, from an idea of Armando Mergè and his son Felice, the winery Poggio le Volpi was born. Thirty five hectares of volcanic land in the heart of the Castelli Romani (“Roman Castles”) area, located in Monte Porzio Catone, not far from Rome. Right from the start, the goal was to produce truly local wines, using advanced technologies to interpret the surrounding environment in the most authentic way, giving value to its ampelographic richness. So, it's by selecting just the most suited vine varieties (mostly Malvasia from Latium and Trebbiano) and the best grapes while being loyal to their family philosophy, always trying to best express the concept of terroir, that stunning wines such as “Epos Frascati Superiore Docg”, “Asonia Frascati Doc Spumante”, “Donnaluce Lazio Igp” (Greco and Chardonnay based ) and the “rosso di punta Baccarossa Lazio Igp”(where the protagonist is the autochthonous Nero Buono) were born, as well as the other labels from Poggio Le Volpi.
